Pranayama is done very delicately in the beginning—almost still. Later, in advanced classes we can move into the more vigorous forms of bhastrika, which can be done to augment energy or to heat up your system. Pranayama is practiced in order to bring together your special energy with that of everything around you.
Dr. Aaron’saffair with yoga and pranayama started nearly forty years ago,
and he has taught hatha yoga, meditation, pranayama and bhastrika.
Prana has been called the life force. “[It] is to yoga, what electricity is to modern civilization.”* Pranayama is the science of controlling prana.
Paramahansa Yogananda said that to create and sustain life, we need something that is not mechanical or chemical. That something is prana.
This class on pranayama will complement and enhance your other classes in yoga, chi gong, belly dance and so forth.
