The main act on the courhouse lawn will be The Backbeat, who celebrates The Beatles and 60's rock. They also play hits from the Rolling Stones, Kinks, Zombies, Monkees, Van Morrison and more! A splendid time is guaranteed for all!
The artist demonstrator will be the Chi Rho Eta Step Team from Cedar Ridge High School.
September's Art Walk includes Melissa Designer Jewelry, Local Artists' Art and Craft Sale at the Old Courthouse, Hillsborough Artists Cooperative and The Skylight Gallery, Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston, Cup A Joe, Callaway Jewelry & Spiral Studios, Sovero Art Gallery & Studio, Hillsborough Gallery of Arts, and the Churton Street Realty Art Gallery. Melissa Designer Jewelry is featuring paintings in oil, acrylic and pastel by Paul Nikitchenko at 112 S. Churton St. The Skylight Gallery is featuring "New Abstract Paintings, Painting for Joy" by JLiggins at 102 W. King St. Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston is featuring watercolor and acrylic paintings by Sharon Daggers at 114 W. King St. Cup A Joe is featuring "Photographs of Hillsborough" by Judy Woodall at 120 W. King St. The Hillsborough Gallery of Arts is featuring "Three Visions" paintings by Chris Graebner and Ellie Reinhold and blown glass by Pringle Teetor at 121D N. Churton St., Suite 1-D. The Churton Street Realty Art Gallery is featuring "Breaking the Surface" acrylic, oil, and watercolor paintings and ceramics by emerging artists Gillian Eberle and Kate Gunther at 121 N. The Filmmaker's Film Series presents a special outdoor CHUCKLEFEST at the Masonic Lodge at 142 West King St. The Filmmaker's Film Series - CHUCKLEFEST returns at dark at the Masonic Lodge (142 West King Street, Hillsborough, NC). Chucklefest reaches deep into the vaults from the Golden Age of Comedy and beyond to present a FEATURE FILM beloved by all who remember drive-ins and the good old days...This program will be screened outdoors at dark. Local historic sites will be opening offering music and special programming. The Orange County Historical Museum (201 N. Churton St.) featuresthe opening of the exhibit "Satan in a Bottle." This exhibit is a collaboration between the Wilson Library of University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Also, our own speakeasy of Churton St., the Wooden Nickel, is helping the museum kick off the new exhibit in style. So on September 26th, come on over and learn about the "spirited" history of moonshine in North Carolina and then head down to the Nickel for a little refreshment. But remember when you do, come in through the back door, and speak easy about your business there.
The Bolin Creek Harmony Boys will offer an eclectic repertoire of a cappella music including gospel, spiritual, barbershop, rock and roll, modern ballads and old standards on Tryon Street at Hillsborough Presbyterian Church (102 W. Tryon St). The Starlite String Band, who has been playing traditional ole time music together for longer than they can remember, will give the Harmony Boys a few breaks during the 6:30-8:30 pm performance. Listeners can "get the scoop" of free ice cream while there.
Weaver Street Market (Gateway Center, Nash & Kollack St.) will be hosting live music presented by The Lids from 6-8pm
Come celebrate a new limb of Branching Out, downtown's newest business from 4-8pm during their opening party.
Plenty of parking during Last Fridays can be found at the new Eno River parking deck. Additional parking in public parking lots, or in designated on-street parking spaces around downtown.
