Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held in Hillsborough at St. Mathews Episcapol Church at 210 St. Marys Road. They are on Monday's, Wednesday's and Friday's from 8-9pm. Monday's and Wednesday's are closed mettings and Friday's are open meetings. The Hillsborough Garden Club is open to all residents of this Orange County area. Club is active in community activities including Colonial Christmas Tour, Spring Garden Tour, Community Garden, Public Gardens and public programs. Educational programs on garden therapy, horticulture, environmental issues, community gardens, etc. Meetings are the second Thursday of every month at various public sites and private homes. The Orange County Literacy Council provides free one-on-one and small group tutoring for adult learners who want to improve their reading, writing, math, or English language skills or to prepare for the GED. We are always enrolling new students in our programs, and we have monthly tutor trainings for individuals interested in serving as a tutor with us. Ongoing. OA is a fellowship of individuals who, through shared experience, strength, and hope, are recovering from compulsive overeating. Tarheel Depression Glass Club offers a chance to get together with people who enjoy collecting, buying and selling depression era glass, china, pottery, kitchen gadgets, etc. The club meets the 1st Monday of each month in Hillsborough, usually in the Carr Building at 7:30 pm where we have have discussions, a short program by a member on subject of their choice and refreshments. We welcome any guests. Just call for directions. We also sponsor a glass show annually in Chapel Hill.

The Alliance for Historic Hillsborough is an umbrella organization of seven groups that work to preserve, enhance, and increase awareness of the historical and cultural heritage of Hillsborough for residents and visitors. The AHH administers the town of Hillsborough's tourism program and operates the Orange County Visitors Center housed in the Alexander Dickson House (c.1790).

The Friends is a group of people from all backgrounds, age groups and walks of life who share a common goal: lending active support to the library's services and programming in whatever way they feel best able to contribute.

Grace Hill is a community that seeks with warmth and thoughtfulness to live by the grace and truth of Jesus Christ.  We believe that Jesus' good news breaths life into the rigors and questions of the mind as well as the joys and challenges of family life. The Hillsborough Badminton Club (HBC) is a local recreation club that plays competitive badminton (doubles) for enjoyment and fitness. The club consists of active adult men and women. We play every Sunday night, year round, from 7 to 9 p.m.. The club's venue is the Orange County Recreation and Parks Gymnasium, at 300 West Tryon Street, near downtown Hillsborough.
