Full Description:
The Hillsborough Arts Council is primarily a volunteer, non-profit organization whose primary role is to meet the arts and cultural needs of the Hillsborough, NC community through a diversity of intiatives. In addition, the council supports the arts and enhances the community through education and by organizing events that feature local artists for the enjoyment and education of the general public.
Our programs include:
Last Fridays
Music, film, and/or visual art on the Last Friday of every month
Hillsborough Handmade Parade
Parlor Concerts
Classical, jazz, and folk set in historic homes in Hillsborough, NC
Regulators Traditional Music Series
Folk, gospel, Cajun, Celtic, Latin and contemporary music
Creative Expressions
Junior high and high school students are matched with local artist mentors
Childrens Opera
Quality opera performances tailored to K-5 age groups
Art Space Planning
Working with the community to envision potential art spaces in town
The Hillsborough Arts Council meets the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillsborough Artist Cooperative (102 West King Street). All who are interested in the Arts Council and its programs, who want to know more about the arts in Hillsborough, or who have suggestions for future Arts Council programs and events are welcome to attend meetings.
