Orange County Pop Warner (OCPW) offers football and cheer/dance for youth ages 5-16. OCPW became a member of the Consolidated Football Federation league, made up of 14 associations, which is one of the many leagues in the national Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc organization (over 375,000 participants nationwide) in 2006. OCPW is a non-profit organization that is run solely by volunteers and funded through donations and sponsorships.
There are no tryouts or cuts and players are placed on teams based on an age-weight matrix to ensure that all players participate with others of similar ages and sizes (thus reducing the risk of injuries). There are also scholastic guidelines that OCPW follows outlined by Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc.
The season always starts on August 1st of each year and can potentially go through through the first full week of December.
